Welcome to Year 4 Birch Class!

Welcome to the Birch Class! Roald Dahl once said: “I think probably kindness is my number one attribute in a human being,” and this is what Birch class are. We help and encourage each other in our learning and face challenges as a team. Determined and helpful, we always strive to be great classmates and give 100% to all aspects of school life.

Autumn Overview

What an incredible term we have had in Birch Class! These pictures are only show a small snippet of the fun and laughter we have had in this busy term.

Much of the curriculum was based around our Victorians topic term. In English, we studied Street Child; a novel about a pauper child set in Victorian Britain. Throughout the topic, we have cooked Victoria Sponge (named after Queen Victoria), learnt about Victorian fashion, researched inventions and so much more. Highlights include our wonderful assembly based on Oliver Twist, and our trip to Gunnersbury Park, where they children became butlers and house maids as well as visiting the terrifying Victorian School. Noah even got the cane!

In science, we studied ‘Sound’ and ‘Electricity’. We had great fun making paper telephones and we can all make a lightbulb switch on in a simple circuit. We also programmed battery powered BBC microbits in computing to incorporate into our fantastic Lego toys.

Monet, Marianne North and William Morris are just some of the artists who have inspired us this term. We have also created beautiful harvest moons, winter trees and learnt how to draw a train from one-point-perspective.

Let the fun continue into the Spring Term!
