Curriculum Mission Statement and Vision

Grove Park Primary school is a unique and creative hub of excellence where high standards of work and achievement oscillate effectively with passion and creativity. The golden thread running through the curriculum are our values of Trust, Respect, Empathy and Enthusiasm. Contextualising children’s learning so that they learn from real life fosters a spirit of enquiry and purpose - situating learning, making it challenging, memorable and purposeful. The curriculum drives all aspects of the school forward ensuring all children thrive and find meaning and fulfilment in their school life. We seek to promote, develop and nurture all children’s talents in a culture of high achievement and expectation and we used this aspiration for all to develop our intent and purpose for our curriculum.

 

English

A Grove Park reader, writer & performer will have an inspired appreciation of our rich and varied literary heritage. They will take pride in their writing, develop the ability to write and speak clearly, adapting their language and style for a range of contexts and communicate their ideas, views and feelings with confidence. A Grove Parker will read for pleasure.

Maths

A Grove Park mathematician is a practical problem solver for whom mastery comes first.

Science

A Grove Park scientist is practical and inquisitive with a deep knowledge about, and thorough understanding of, the world in which they live.

History

A Grove Park historian is a detective who investigates and asks questions about the past to understand how it has affected their lives today. 

Geography

A Grove Park geographer learns about the world around them in a fun, meaningful and intriguing way. They also develop a positive relationship with the natural world through unique ‘Outdoor Learning Sessions’, where they are encouraged to discover, explore and risk take.

PSHE

A Grove Parker shows respect for themselves, others, their community and their world.

RE

A Grove Parker demonstrates respect that is founded in knowledge. They learnt about other religions and from other religions.

Computing

Grove Parkers are computational thinkers who are digitally literate and safe on the internet.

Art

A Grove Park artist will have the confidence and skills to be both creative and reflective in a judgement free environment.

DT

A Grove Park designer will be able to solve real and relevant problems by being creative, resourceful, resilient and reflective.

Music

A Grove Park musician is a confident performer who has a strong musical foundation built upon the basics of reading notation, group singing and participation in a variety and wide range of purposeful musical activities. 

PE

A Grove Park sportsperson is physically literate with a strong understanding of how to stay fit and active throughout life.

MFL

A Grove Parker is curious and knowledgeable about the world and other cultures and can express their ideas and thoughts in another language. They will leave Grove Park equipped with the foundation and enthusiasm for learning further languages
