New Parents
Having looked through our website, we know you will only have a flavour of our school. We know you would enjoy a visit to see the school for yourself. Please phone the school office on 020 8994 7405 to make an appointment to tour the school and talk with the headteacher.
There are fixed dates each year for applications to the Nursery class (May) and Reception class (February). Hounslow borough manages all entries to our reception class and families are restricited to a small catchment area within Chiswick. Entrance to classes from year 1 upwards is managed directly by the school. We usually ask for children to begin their time with us at the beginning of a term. We alwyas communicate with the previous school to ensure continuity.
We try to get to know your child as quickly as possible and we always ask one of the children to be a best buddy and show each new child around so they can settle in quickly. It really helps if you tell us of any issues when you begin.
At Grove Park Primary School we support pupils with English as an Additional Language. The School works in partnership with Hounslow Language Service (HLS), who provides support teaching staff, EAL and mother-tongue assessments, multilingual and multicultural resources for individual pupils' needs. Our main aim is to help bilingual pupils, who speak, read or write in English as an additional language, develop their skills in English and succeed in all school subjects.
At present 34% of all pupils at Grove Park have English as an Additional Language and they represent 19 different languages. Pupils receiving support, work in small groups where they extend the knowledge of English through language games, dual text stories, role plays and communication games.
